Human and Constitutional Rights

Access to life's basic necessities; clean water, sanitation, and shelter are fundamental to the basic human right to life. Lets explore how these essential needs intersect with our constitutional rights to emphasize the urgent need for policy reform that upholds the dignity and equality of every American.

Many tribal lands and communities of color across the United States lack access to clean water and it remains a severe challenge, echoing disparities that should have no place in our modern society.

Meanwhile, the availability of public restrooms in American cities has significantly declined over the past decades, a symptom of policy influenced by the criminalization and dehumanization of poverty. With only 8 public toilets per 100,000 people, the United States lags behind other leading nations, which average over 50 per 100,000. This shortage not only undermines public health but also the dignity of our most vulnerable populations. Shutting down public restrooms does not make America great, it makes us sick.

The connection between the homelessness crisis and the affordable housing shortage is undeniable. Yet, as a society, we often fail to acknowledge that shelter is not merely a commodity but a basic necessity of life. Right now many cities in America are trapped in a cycle of seasonal emergency funding for temporary solutions for warming centers in the winter and cooling centers in the summer. The fact that children and families sleep on the streets in one of the wealthiest nations in the world is not just a failure of policy; it's a failure of morality. By ensuring that all people have access to shelter, we affirm their fundamental right to life, upheld and protected by our national values.

Clean water, sanitation and shelter are basic human rights that we can give all Americans access to if we are going to make being American mean something great.

Personal autonomy is a cornerstone of American freedom, yet it is under threat. Whether it's the right to make decisions about one’s body, from abortion to gender-affirming care, or the freedom to choose or refuse a vaccine, these issues lie at the heart of our constitutional crises today. Maintaining our individual rights is about maintaining the very fabric of equality and justice that defines America. Every person deserves to govern their own body at all times, a principle that must be defended irrespective of differing beliefs or backgrounds.

The Fourth Amendment of the United States Constitution guards against unreasonable searches and seizures, underscoring the nation’s commitment to protecting personal privacy and dignity. Despite this, civil asset forfeiture practices often undermine these constitutional guarantees, allowing law enforcement agencies to seize property suspected of involvement in crime without necessarily charging the owner with a crime making us, the people, guilty until proven innocent. This practice not only skirts the boundary of legality but also strikes at the heart of personal autonomy and property rights. This open violation of the constitution is part of the problem that has delivered us to the constitutional crisis we face today as a nation.

Civil asset forfeiture is frequently criticized for its potential to punish innocent citizens and for its disproportionate impact on marginalized communities. It creates a paradox where property rights and personal rights are compromised under the guise of law enforcement. Reforming these practices is essential to ensure that our civil liberties are not casually eroded by laws that can be misapplied. The fight against such overreach is not just about protecting assets but is fundamentally about affirming the constitutional rights and human dignity of every American.

The issues of are not just political debates. They are urgent matters of human dignity and equality. These challenges require immediate and decisive action from all of us. Share this message, engage with your policymakers, and use the hashtag #BuyBarney to lend your voice to this crucial causes. Your involvement can drive change and inspire others to join in protecting the fundamental rights that define our nation.

This election like all those before it will be a pivotal moment in our history. The people we choose now to fight for the dignity and rights of every American will echo through generations. There have only been 4 people to represent Eastern Washington in the House of Representatives in the last 80 years.

Let's commit to a future where no child lacks shelter, no person is denied the basic necessities of life, and everyone can live with the dignity they deserve. Join the #buyBarney movement and be a part of the change that redefines what it means to be American. Together, we can transform our society into one that truly honors and respects all life.

Healthcare, Housing, Human Rights

America stands at a crossroads, where the decisions we make today will define the legacy of what it means to be American. My platform, the philosophy of #buyBarney for Congress has three pillars; healthcare, housing and human rights.

True healthcare reform means recognizing mental health and addiction are critical components of healthcare that must be included in any healthcare system. Even if all we did was redefine terms, healthcare must include mental health which must include addition because addiction is a disease, not a crime.

The war on drugs has failed. We have wasted trillions of dollars over the last 50 years and criminalized individuals who need treatment, not incarceration. This has made the land of the free and home the brave the nation with the largest imprisoned population on Earth. By focusing on treating addiction medically, we can reduce the societal costs associated with drug abuse and improve public health outcomes. Selling, trafficking, distributing and unlicensed manufacturing of any medication would still be illegal but the end of prohibition disincentivizes all of these prohibited activities.

Education is a fundamental right of every child in America because it is a necessary tool for securing the future of our nation. However, for America to get the benefit from education, children must first be healthy enough to attend school. This connection between health and education is vital; without addressing the health needs of our children, including access to clean water, sanitation, and healthcare, our educational efforts will be undermined.

Many Americans serve as caregivers for children, the elderly, or disabled family members. These roles are crucial but often overlooked aspects of our social infrastructure. Ensuring that caregivers are healthy and supported is essential for them to continue providing this essential care. This means comprehensive healthcare that includes mental health services and addiction treatment, enabling them to maintain their wellbeing as they care for others.

We want to build a stronger America which requires:

Ending the war on drugs and treating addiction as a medical issue, not a criminal one.

We have spent 50 years and well over a trillion dollars on the war on drugs and still grapple with an ongoing opioid crisis. It is a failed experiment, we must stop, cut our losses and try another, much more direct approach. Treat addiction like the disease it is and not the crime it is not.

Decriminalizing poverty and redirecting funds from punitive systems to supportive, rehabilitative services. When a person is jailed we must provide them with healthcare, food, and shelter and keep them under lock and key with support staff and guards. I am suggesting that we provide these people with healthcare for the disease they have instead. Obviously the far less expensive option.

Investing in basic infrastructure to provide all Americans with clean water, sanitation, and shelter.

Health starts with access to the necessities for life, clean water, sanitation, and shelter. When being an American means that you have access to these basic necessities we are becoming greater.

These changes reflect a commitment to conservative principles of fiscal responsibility, the sanctity of life, and limited government intervention in the lives of citizens, focusing instead on empowerment and prevention.

The vision outlined here calls for a profound respect for life and liberty, key tenets of conservatism. By addressing the root causes of societal issues rather than their symptoms, we can redefine what it means to be American. This is more than a policy change; it's a moral imperative to lift every citizen, giving them the dignity and health they deserve. Let's rally together to make these necessary changes a reality. Make being American mean something great.

Conservative Universal Healthcare

The landscape of American healthcare is dominated by bureaucratic processes that needlessly complicates the delivery of care delivery and places a massive financial burden on providers that must be passed onto patients.  Advocating for a conservative approach to healthcare means advocating for fiscal responsibility, the sanctity of life, and the reduction or elimination of unnecessary government bureaucracy. By addressing these inefficiencies, America can significantly reduce spending and enhance the quality of care for all Americans.

Veterans and beneficiaries in the U.S. often navigate a labyrinth of administrative requirements, with systems like the VA and Medicare demanding extensive proof of eligibility and service connection for conditions. This bureaucratic rigor is costly; the U.S. spends a staggering 36% of its healthcare expenditures on administration alone. In contrast, systems with less bureaucracy, such as the UK's National Health Service (NHS), allocate only about 12% of their healthcare funds to administrative costs. These figures highlight a tremendous opportunity for savings and efficiency improvements.

The UK’s NHS provides a pertinent example of efficient healthcare administration. By focusing on residency rather than on stringent eligibility criteria, the NHS streamlines access to healthcare services, ensuring that administrative costs remain low while accessibility remains high. This system starkly contrasts with the U.S. approach, where the verification processes unnecessarily complicate and delay care and there are several brands of healthcare bureaucracy all of which only exist to limit access to healthcare.

Simplifying the administrative components of healthcare in the U.S. would yield savings of approximately $1.3 trillion annually.

These funds could be reallocated to establish a universal basic healthcare system, covering all Americans regardless of their employment, age, or health condition. Such a system would not only uphold the conservative value of fiscal responsibility but also ensure that every American can receive basic healthcare services without the burdensome red tape that currently characterizes government-run healthcare programs protecting the sanctity of life.

Transitioning to a more efficient and universal healthcare system, the U.S. could implement a simplified administrative structure where the only requirement for healthcare access is proof of citizenship. This approach would allow us to eliminate the duplicative and often contradictory layers of bureaucracy inherent in Medicare, Medicaid, the VA, and other government agencies while maintaining specialized services where necessary. Very little about the delivery of healthcare should change other than making more providers more readily available. It would no longer be necessary to travel great distances to seek the preferred in network provider.

Implementing these changes would dramatically decrease administrative costs and improve care delivery.

Embracing a conservative approach to healthcare reform means endorsing strategies that are not only fiscally prudent but also honor the sanctity of life through improved access to healthcare. It is a call to reduce the sprawling government bureaucracy that currently dominates our healthcare system. By advocating for these changes, we can ensure that every American receives the healthcare they deserve without the needless complexity and expense. Let's not just move the needle, let's redefine the scope of what's possible in healthcare. #BuyBarney for Congress and make healthcare, housing and human rights for all Americans a priority.

Radicalize the center for a revolutionary America.

Gun Violence Control

In a country as progressive as ours, it's a tragedy that gun violence remains a persistent and worsening issue. While many leaders turn to stricter gun control as a remedy, I argue for a more radical and transformative approach: focusing instead on mental healthcare. This is about preserving our constitutional freedoms and tackling the root causes of gun violence.

Recent statistics paint a stark picture: despite increasingly stringent gun control measures, gun violence in America has escalated. For instance, the rate of gun homicides has steadily increased over the past decade. More significantly, the majority of gun-related deaths are self-inflicted, highlighting an overlooked role of mental health in this crisis.

Gun control, while well-intentioned, misses the mark. It focuses on the tools used to express violence rather than the drivers behind what creates it. Studies show that places with stringent gun laws often face high rates of gun violence, suggesting that the problem runs deeper than access to weapons alone. By focusing solely on gun control, we risk infringing on personal freedoms without effectively addressing the underlying issues.

The real solution lies in mental healthcare. By providing universal access to mental health services, including addiction treatment, we address the behavioral crises that often lead to violence. Evidence suggests that comprehensive mental health initiatives can drastically reduce both violent crimes and suicide rates. For instance, pilot programs that integrated mental health services in communities saw a noticeable decrease in emergency calls for mental crises and violent incidents. We know that when people have access to mental healthcare they are less violent.

My platform does not isolate healthcare from other critical areas of well-being. Stable housing and the protection of human rights are equally vital in nurturing mental health. By ensuring that every American has access to shelter is safeguarded by their basic human rights, we foster an environment where mental well-being is attainable for all, thereby reducing the compulsion towards violence.

This is more than a campaign; it's a movement. I invite you to join me in radicalizing the political center to forge a revolutionary America where gun violence is addressed not through restriction and punishment but through empowerment and care. Spread the word, use #BuyBarney, and help us manipulate the algorithms to bring this vital message to the forefront of national discourse.

The choice is clear: continue down a path of ineffective restrictions that take our rights away or embrace a revolutionary approach that safeguards our freedoms and tackles gun violence at its roots while expanding our rights. Let's choose to enhance our mental healthcare system and build a safer, healthier, and truly free America.

Abortion and Personal Autonomy

There are a very limited number of issues that people are more passionate about than abortion. At the core of this debate are the principles of personal autonomy and individual freedoms. These are foundational principles of conservative political philosophy. A true conservative applies this ideological standpoint universally and consistently regardless of circumstance. The creator bestows us with certain undeniable rights including the ability to govern yourself. Staunch individualism with limited government intervention are where the discussion of abortion should start and end from a Republican candidate.

As a moderate conservative I can understand the need for some regulation. There should be some limits on the use of this procedure and those mechanism already exist. The medical procedure is performed by a licensed provider at a licensed location. The provider can apply their own limitations on when they are willing or unwilling to perform the procedure.  The state board that issues and regulates the provider can also establish their regulation for when the procedure is reasonable and when it is not and finally the states themselves can regulates businesses that operate in their state. We already have multiple layers of regulation and oversight ensuring that nothing negligent, abusive or below any moral or ethical standard is violated. There is no need for the federal government to regulate what women do with their medical provider or their uteruses.

The same goes for everyone all of the time and not some people some of the time. If a person does not want to take a vaccine, that is their right. The same right that allows a woman to get an abortion from a licensed provider. Any need to regulate healthcare beyond that is essentially distrust of the medical provider and/or the medical industrial complex. If you trust medical providers there is no need for any further regulation because the provider will not violate their state's or their own standard of care or do anything that is beyond reasonable out of fear of prosecution.

State's do have rights and states do have a rich history of being closely related to the religion and spiritual beliefs of the people living there. The great American experiment is a government of, by and for the people. If enough people in the community are motivated to elect leaders that draft laws the people are motived to support and enforce, that is the will of the people. I would argue that any law in any state that limits a woman's access to healthcare violates their protected rights. There is no need for new laws, only for the laws of the land to be interrupted and enforced correctly.
